Armchair BEA – Monday

I’m joining in Armchair BEA for the first time (I didn’t even know what it was last year…) this year and quite excited about all the material coming up in the next few days.

Armchair BEA is the stay-at-home version of Book Expo America, the enormous New York trade fair which is on this week. Some of us would love to be part of it but can’t afford the trip/get time off work/justify the airfare! So there is an Armchair version in which bloggers unite and chat about books for a week.

Today’s topic is: Who are you, and how do you Armchair?

To those of you who don’t know me, I’m Yvann, I live in London and read a lot (I’m aiming for 75 books this year and am well ahead of schedule), although unfortunately my job is not book-related – I’m an accountant. For more about me, check out “Who’s Drinking All The Tea” up there in the top right of the page.

This blog is called Reading, Fuelled By Tea because the vast majority of my reading is accompanied by tea, even on the commute. I favour English Breakfast with a little sugar and a lot of milk, but I’m known to drink most herbal teas as well.

I don’t focus on a particular genre – I’m getting more and more into “literary fiction” although that’s a loaded definition; I love crime, mystery and thriller novels, and I’m starting to explore Young Adult novels. I tend to steer clear of traditional chick-lit, horror, sci-fi and fantasy.

I’m hoping to pick up links to loads of new bloggers this week, lots of book recommendations (my Delicious account is already exploding with book recommendations, but never mind) and get a bit more involved in the blogging community – I tend to be a bit aloof and I’d like to change that.

Please leave a comment below, whether you’ve been checking out RFBT for a while or a brand-new visitor today!

  1. I wish I’d known about this in time to join in, it’s fun reading people’s posts. And I love the idea of using Delicious to store book recommendations.

  2. Well hello! I live in London too, aim for 50 books a year (and typically get around 52, 53 ish). This year I’m already up to 33 and it’s only May so well ahead of trajectory. I love the title of your blog, and am more surprised than I probably should be at the idea of drinking tea during a commute. I always assume everyone is drinking coffee – but then in the winter my thermal cup has hot ovaltine inside…

  3. I am from the United States, in SC. I too, don’t get too involved with the book blogging community. I knew there was a community of book bloggers. But because of school it is hard to keep up. I am hoping to change that. Mostly my blog was for my book club and book reviews. Nice to meet you.

  4. Hi, I have just found you through another blog. I am a Londoner living in NYC and I suppose old habits never die. I am always drinking tea and my work colleagues are always making fun of this.

    Thanks for this link.
