This week’s Musing Mondays, hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading, is:
How far along are you in your current read before you start thinking about what you’ll read next?
It’s quite rare for me to think about one book while reading another. I also tend to read a book obsessively – it’s not easy to distract me from my book (although I have yet to miss my train stop because I was reading!) so I don’t think it’s surprising that I don’t think about the next book until I’m done with the current one.
What does cause me endless deliberation is which book to read next. I try not to be a book polygamist but it inevitably happens, particularly now that I am participating in readalongs and challenges. So over the weekend I “closed out” three books and have now plucked the top volume from the stack of 4 “to be read next” – that stack of 4 took at least half an hour to decide on! And the only way I was able to decide was that three of them were review copies and which had the closest deadline for review!
I never try to read in themes or sets, so I guess this question addresses the reading habits of others more than mine.
