Sunday Salon – 34 miles

I cycled 34 miles yesterday. Let’s just pause on that.

I have one friend (3G) who would sniff at that because she cycles everywhere and used to have a 25 mile round trip commute she did by bike, but 34 miles is more than twice what I cycle on my longest round trip commute.

So that would probably be why I feel like a heap of broken plates today.

Moving right along… the reason I cycled so stupidly far was because The Physicist and I are looking for a new home; we live very close to the Olympic stadium and unsurprisingly the landlord has raised the rent substantially for our June renewal. We’re looking at a very different area of London and I think I found a perfect house yesterday while viewing 8 properties between 10am and 12.30…; fingers crossed that the landlady accepts my attempt at negotiating the rent and we get it!

My reading time has been severely cut down recently; my commute has got so short that I don’t have time to settle into a book! Don’t be jealous, it won’t last.

In other news, I’m discovering how hard it is to spend a day at home without working; it’s like I can’t think of anything else to do (despite all those neglected books whispering at me). Nevertheless, I am determined not to let the Sunday of my long weekend get sucked up with work and am resolutely staying off the work network.

  1. Well done for cycling all that way. I don’t tend to cycle quite that far, but sometimes we do, in the summer, as a kind of day-trip.

I hope you’ll be able to get the house you want, fingers crossed!
