Sunday Salon – weather and Musing Mondays – book purchases

The sun is shining and it’s 19 degrees outside. This is genuinely newsworthy. It feels like it’s been winter for 8 months. We made the house warmer yesterday by opening all the windows. Some of the windows weren’t all that sure about their ability to open, it’s been that long since it was safe to open a window and not freeze to death.

I exaggerate very slightly.

Lovely weekend in town with Familia RWT – dinner at Wiltons, lots of fun in the Waterstones on Piccadilly, a concert in which 1930s classical music was not as unenjoyable as I thought, general merriment.

wiltonsToday brings me back to work after a week off and my email inbox has exploded. Even with a bit of curating last week I’m at over 100 undealt with and requiring attention.

Musing Mondays… I thought I’d share the books we bought in Waterstones on Saturday.

I Am Half Sick of Shadows – the latest Flavia de Luce. Having loved each of its predecessors, how could I resist?

The Prisoner of Heaven – Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Having adored The Shadow of the Wind, again, how to resist this sequel?

The House of Silk – a Sherlock Holmes novel by Anthony Horowitz. I’m intrigued, and Mini-Me loves Anthony Horowitz’s adventure books, so that’s a good reason…

Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. After Anne-Marie Slaughter’s article in the Atlantic and many mentions of Ms Sandberg and Ms Mayer (CEO of Yahoo) and all the chat about this at the moment, coupled with increasing challenges at work, I thought this would be a good one to try.

Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay – The Book Accumulator bought it on the spot when he found out I haven’t read it. Iconic Australian literature.

Bought anything recently?
