Sunday Salon – picnic and half a cricket team

Summer happened in London this weekend. On Saturday, for one day*, it was summer. So almost all of London was to be found around a barbecue or in a park – we opted for the “tag along to someone else’s picnic” option which was excellent. And I discovered a new park that I rather like. Yesterday we should have been playing cricket but our opposition pulled out so we played a training match with much enthusiasm and hilarity – was really fun. Not least because my pair won.

Reading has been thin on the ground which I don’t really understand. I’ve been commuting by train and not totally overworked, so I don’t know why I haven’t been reading… I’ve been reading The Bedlam Detective by Stephen Gallagher, which is quite good but also dragging a bit. I swear I’ve read it for 4 or 5 Tube journeys now, and I’m still only 130 pages in (normally I can do about 80 pages/commute).

*it had been quite sunny and warm earlier in the week but as it poured with rain on Friday morning, that doesn’t count. Not least because the laundry I had left outside overnight got totally soaked.
