Thoughts and other Miscellany

The fallibility of books and memory

I have completely convinced myself that I have read Rebecca Skloot’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks – but when I try to remember anything about it, I realise I haven’t actually read it myself, I’ve just seen a million* reviews of it/references to it.

I know I’ve read some really good books this year, but without referring to my Books I’ve Read pages, I can’t think of more than The Wedding Gift and The Lawgiver, plus the thought-provoking non-fiction titles of Quiet and Lean In (not yet reviewed).

This is partly why I started the blog, to be able to remember better, but somehow, it’s not working? And the one where you convince yourself you’ve read something is a strange one. Anyone else experienced it?
