Giving up a long way in

I’m on page 380 of 500 of Philippa Gregory’s A Respectable Trade and have no desire whatsoever to actually finish it, but am annoyed at getting so far and not at least finishing it. My choice now is to abandon it as the path of greater resistance, in protest.

This is my third did-not-finish (DNF) of 2014 (out of 4 books read), so I don’t know whether 2014 is destined to be a poor reading year for me, whether I am particularly out of sorts at present and thus quicker to abandon a book, or whether it’s just a run of bad luck.

It feels wasteful to abandon the book at this point but I just can’t bring myself to care about any of the characters!

Review Friday.

  1. Oh I feel your pain! Unfortunately I’m the type of person that would slog my way through it, because if I put it down I’ll keep telling myself I’ll go back to it and still won’t want to be spoilt for the ending despite not enjoying it.
