Books I accidentally bought in New York

So, I went to New York with 4 books, and have returned with 12, only having read about 75% of one. Oops.

The haul purchased there was as follows (affiliate links):

McNally Jackson BooksThe Patron Saint of Liars by Ann Patchett, who wrote one of my favourite books (Bel Canto)

Strand Books:

The Year of Magical Thinking (Joan Didion)

How It All Began (Penelope Lively)

(and a mug)

NY Public Library: 1 mug (out of which I am currently drinking jetlag-defying coffee), no books. I was sorely tempted by assorted reading journals/”read this next” but… somehow not.

At the airport, using up spare USD currency:

The Shallows: How the Internet is Changing the Way We Think, Read and Remember (Nicholas Carr)

The Translator (Nina Schuyler)

State of Wonder (Ann Patchett) – I have my suspicions I already own this?

King and Maxwell (David Baldacci) – it’s been several years since I read one of Baldacci’s thrillers and my favourites were those featuring Sean King and Michelle Maxwell…

The Racketeer (John Grisham) – latest Grisham, ’nuff said.

I return to the UK with USD 3.01 left. That feels like success to me.
