Top Ten Tuesday – 2015 reading and blogging goals!

Because Booking Through Thursday often doesn’t post until too late in the day for me (thanks to time differences), I have decided that on Thursdays I’ll either answer a Booking Through Thursday question or a Top Ten Tuesday question (the latter are run on The Broke and The Bookish blog), although I might let myself stop at 5 rather than going all the way to a list of 10! This week’s:

December 30: Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2015 — bookish, blogging or otherwise!

1. Once again I’ll be setting myself a 100-books-in-the-year goal. I made it to 98 in 2011 and since then have been at 70, 50 and 35* (at time of writing on Christmas Eve…) in 2012, 13 and 14 respectively. I’m hoping to have a bit more time to read in 2015.

2. Of which 10 should be audiobooks thanks to my Christmas present (an Audible subscription and wireless headphones).

3. Clear off all the physical review copies I have sitting around. There are about 10 now, so I think that’s a reasonable effort.

4. Get a net decrease of 50 in the number of books in my bookshelves, either through reading and discarding, or just through discarding. I managed that much at least over the last two months. I am not moving this many books again!

5. Come up with a 28 before 28 to replace the 27 before 27 that I totally failed at! (I blame Baby RWT).

6. Catch up on any unwritten reviews from 2014, 2013 and (gasp) 2012 by the end of March. Because who needs those hanging around?

7. Review anything within 3 months of having read it. This will seriously help with #3 – the piles of books that move around my house from shelf to desk to living room table, to bedside table and back to desk waiting for me to write reviews about them is a bit crazy.

8. Clear down some of my “borrowed books” shelf. It’s silly to have borrowed so many books from family and friends and never have got around to reading them.

9. Take out (and read) at least 5 books from the library. Having gone to the trouble of maintaining 5 different library memberships (if you include my Open University one), I should really use them. Not least because if you don’t use it, you lose it in the current cutting-government-spending environment.

10. Lastly find a couple of reading challenges and participate. I found LOADS of reading challenges I wanted to take part in in 2012 and totally failed at them. Going to find a couple this year and see what I can make of them.
